Dr. Yuri Lewicky, a native of Flagstaff, Arizona left the town he loved to discover his true calling, a career in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. An avid athlete since youth, with a background of competitive ski racing, soccer and the Colorado Plateau as a backyard for hiking expeditions, Dr. Yuri Lewicky attained the discipline and desire that would be necessary to undertake the path of an Orthopaedic Surgeon. He returned to Flagstaff to join Northern Arizona Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Division. Dr. Yuri Lewicky’s expertise is in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee and treatment of athletic injuries. After becoming a double degree Magna Cum Laude graduate of Northern Arizona University, Dr. Yuri Lewicky then received his Doctor of Medicine, from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He completed his Orthopaedic residency at the same institution and was then awarded the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Throughout his Orthopaedic training he continually strived to do procedures with greater efficiency and increased proficiency via a process of continuous learning. His mind has always focused on how something could be done better. As in ski racing where one strives for the perfect turn, in surgery one strives for the perfect result. A favorite mantra of Dr. Yuri Lewicky’s is “Simplicity does not equate mediocrity but rather mastery”. He believes that perfection of technique and knowledge is a lifelong pursuit. Dr. Yuri Lewicky is lovingly devoted to his wife, Paola, an RN and child behavior instructor, and his two sons, Diego and Marco all of which are his teachers and best friends.
